A 30-year-old Southern Tasmanian man has been charged with child exploitation offences, following a Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) investigation involving Tasmania Police and the Australian Federal Police.
During a search of a Hobart property today, police located a significant quantity of child exploitation material across multiple electronic devices. The material included images, videos and online chat messages relating to child exploitation.
Police seized a total of 19 electronic devices in the search, as well as a small quantity of ammunition.
The man has been charged under the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act for the following offences and will appear in court in Hobart later today.
- Use Carriage Service For Child Abuse Material
- Possessing or controlling child abuse material obtained or accessed using a carriage service
The investigation is linked to Operation ARKSTONE, which uncovered an Australian online network of alleged offenders accused of abusing children and sharing abuse online.
