Two men have been charged following a police operation on the state’s South Coast.
As part of ongoing targeting and disruption of criminal networks, officers from South Coast Police District, with the assistance of the South East Region Enforcement Squad and Dog Unit, executed four Firearms Prohibition Orders (FPOs) at a caravan park in Nowra about 7am today (Wednesday 23 September 2020).
During the searches, officers allegedly located and seized firearm parts, a gel blaster, prohibited weapons, a taser and prohibited drugs.
All items seized during the operation will undergo forensic examination.
Two men – aged 38 and 44 – were arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station.
The younger man was charged with possess prohibited drug and firearm etc found at premises – subject to prohibition order. He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in Nowra Local Court on Monday 19 October 2020.
The older man was charged with larceny. He was refused bail and is due to appear in Nowra Local Court today (Wednesday 23 September 2020).
South Coast Police District Commander, Superintendent Greg Moore, said police will not tolerate criminal behaviour.
“Today’s operational activity formed part of ongoing targeting and disruption of criminal networks on the South Coast,” Supt Moore said.
“We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in our South Coast community. We will continue to target those who choose to engage in this kind of criminal activity and rest assured they will face the full brunt of the law.”
“I would like to stress to the community that any information you might be able to provide about criminal activity in the area is extremely valuable.
“We rely on the community to be our eyes and ears on the street, and if you have any information that could help with our investigation – we want to speak to you,” Supt Moore said.
