Police charge man with firearm and weapon offences in Marayong

A man will appear before court today after being charged with multiple firearm and weapon offences in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 10pm (Saturday 25 September 2021), officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command’s Proactive Crime Team stopped a Mazda SUV on Davis Road, Marayong.

Police spoke to the driver, a 36-year-old man, who was requested to get out of the vehicle with officers sighting what appeared to be a firearm in the driver’s door compartment.

The man was arrested and during a search of the vehicle, officers seized a replica Glock pistol, prohibited and prescription drugs, prohibited weapons, knives as well as identification and bank cards not belonging to the driver.

He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place, supply prohibited drug, possess prescribed restricted substance, custody of knife in public place, two counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, five counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen and not comply with noticed direction under section 7/8/9 – COVID.

The Glenmore Park man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 26 September 2021).
