Police Charge Man With Firearms Offences At Nelson Bay

A man has been charged with firearms offences following an investigation by Port Stephens-Hunter Police.

About 10.30am on Tuesday 30 December 2025, police attended a unit in Kelvin Grove, Nelson Bay, in response to an alarm activation.

Police observed numerous unsecured firearms inside the premises and declared a crime scene.

A search warrant was executed, and police seized several items of interest including unregistered firearms, ammunition, and knives.

Following inquiries, about 2.45pm on Friday 9 January 2026, police arrested a 25-year-old man at Raymond Terrace Police Station.

He was charged with six offences,

  • Two counts of possess unauthorised pistol,
  • Two counts of not keep firearm safely,
  • Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, and
  • Possess unregistered firearm.

The man was bail refused to appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Saturday 10 January 2026, where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 9 February 2026.
