Police charge man with murder after shooting in Wentworthville

A man has been charged over the alleged murder of a man in Sydney’s west last week.

About 8pm on Monday 29 June 2020, emergency services were called to a home on Jones Street, Wentworthville, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police will allege in court that a 28-year-old man entered the home and shot the 44-year-old before fleeing.

The man died at the scene.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation with the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

About 12.40pm today (Monday 6 July 2020), the 28-year-old man attended Granville Police Station after a warrant for his arrest was issued on Friday last week (3 July 2020).

He was charged with murder and two outstanding warrants for traffic offences, refused bail, and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 7 July 2020).
