Police charge man with series of Melton armed robberies

Investigators from the Armed Crime Squad have arrested and charged a man in relation to a series of armed robberies in Melton.

A man allegedly armed with a knife entered a licenced premises on High Street and made demands for cash about 11.40am on 8 January.

Staff complied, no one was injured in the incident and the man fled on foot.

There were two similar armed robberies, allegedly committed at the same venue on 29 May, 2019 and 27 November, 2018.

Police executed search warrants in Melton South and Yarraville on Wednesday 22 January as part of their investigation into the incident.

A 32-year-old Melton South man was arrested and charged with three counts of armed robbery.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 23 January.
