Police charge pair after armed robbery on Swanston Street

Melbourne Embona detectives have charged two teenage boys following an alleged armed robbery in Melbourne on 9 December.

A 23-year-old man was walking along Swanston Street when he was approached by a group of males near Little Lonsdale Street about 3pm.

It is alleged demands were made for the man’s headphones before he was assaulted with what’s believed to be an extendable baton.

The victim received minor injuries.

Two boys both aged 15 from St Albans have been charged with armed robbery, intentionally cause injury and use prohibited weapon.

They will appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Detectives continue to investigate are hoping to identify three other males believed to be involved in the armed robbery.
