Police charge pair after Malvern East aggravated burglary

Police have charged two teenagers following an alleged aggravated burglary in East Malvern this morning.

Police were called after the residents of the Dandenong Road home woke to find their home had been broken into about 4.15am.

Local police were patrolling the area and located the teenagers about 300 metres from the victim’s home.

A 16-year-old from Burwood became aggressive as police tried to arrest him.

He allegedly pushed a police officer to the ground as he fled on foot.

The police officer was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.

The 16-year-old was arrested a short time later with the assistance of the Dog Squad.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary, assault police and resist arrest.

The second teen, a 15-year-old girl from Box Hill North, was arrested and has been charged with aggravated burglary.

Police located car keys belonging to the victims nearby.

They will both will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
