Police charge teen after food delivery rider assaulted and robbed in Wentworthville

A teenager has been charged after a public appeal following an assault and armed robbery in Sydney’s west last month.

Just before 10pm on Monday 18 May 2020, a food delivery rider was sitting on a bench at the The Kingsway, outside Wentworthville Railway Station, when an unknown male approached and allegedly kicked him in the head.

The male then allegedly threatened the 20-year-old delivery rider with a knife, demanding money, before forcing him to walk to a nearby ATM.

When the man fled to a nearby pizza shop and alerted staff to the incident, the male ran back to the bench and allegedly stole the man’s scooter, food delivery bag and wallet, which contained cards and cash.

Following an investigation by officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command, a 15-year-old boy attended Wentworthville Police Station at 2.10pm yesterday (Thursday 4 June 2020) and was arrested.

The teenager was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He was granted bail and is due to appear before a children’s court on Wednesday 26 August 2020.
