Police charge teen over assault in Sydney CBD

A teenage girl will appear in court today charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in Sydney’s CBD last weekend.

About 4.30am on Sunday (29 October 2023), police were called to George Street, Sydney, after reports of an assault.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and spoke to two women – aged 23 and 32 – who had allegedly been assaulted by two females before the pair picked up the women’s phones from the ground and fled.

A second altercation occurred a short distance away and one of their phones was recovered.

Following inquiries, a 13-year-old girl was arrested after attending Day Street Police Station on Wednesday (1 November 2023).

She was later released and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

About 4.45pm yesterday (Thursday 2 November 2023), a 14-year-old girl was arrested by police while traveling on a ferry towards Balmain.

She was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, larceny and destroy or damage property.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Friday 3 November 2023).
