Police charge two after ride-share driver assaulted, robbed in Stanmore

Two men have been charged after a ride-share driver was allegedly assaulted and robbed at Stanmore this morning.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command were called to the intersection of Parramatta Road and Bridge Street about 1.15am (Saturday 15 August 2020).

They were told two passengers in a ride-share Camry allegedly hit the driver and stole cash before running from the vehicle.

Several men intervened and the passengers were tackled and held till police arrived.

Two men, both aged 26, one from Surry Hills and the other from Sydney, were arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station, where they have each been charged with one count of rob in company.

The men have been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later today.
