Two men have been charged following a serious domestic-related assault of a man in the state’s north on the weekend.
About 7.30am on Saturday 19 February 2022, emergency services were called to a home on Ocean Street, Kingscliff, following reports of an assault.
On arrival, officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District located a 28-year-old man with serious head and facial injuries.
Police were told two men allegedly forced entry to the home, before they assaulted the man in the living room by punching him to the face and head.
Three other occupants of the home – a 59-year-old woman and two men, aged 24 and 21 – attempted to assist, before the men allegedly assaulted the younger man by punching him to the head.
The two men then left the home and fled the scene in a vehicle.
The 28-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tweed Hospital with head and facial injuries.
The 21-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident
Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station about 10.30am on Saturday (19 February 2022) where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – inflict actual bodily harm.
The Pottsville man was refused bail and appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court on Sunday 20 February 2022, where he was given conditional bail to appear at the same court on Friday 13 May 2022.
After further investigations, a 25-year-old man was arrested in Pottsville and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – inflict actual bodily harm.
The Nunderi man was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Tuesday 22 February 2022).
