Police charge two men after drugs, firearms and cash seized in Campsie

Two men have been charged after drugs, firearms and cash were seized by police during the search of two homes in Sydney south-west yesterday.

About 2am (Tuesday 12 May 2020), officers from Campsie Police Area Command stopped a Toyota Rav4 at the intersection of Duke and Canterbury Road, Campsie.

Officers spoke with the 20-year-old driver who allegedly provided false details. A search of the man’s vehicle allegedly uncovered a loaded pistol, $15,200 in cash and a quantity of prohibited drugs.

The man was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where further investigations commenced.

Officers executed two search warrants on premises in Croydon Street, Lakemba, and Matthews Street, Punchbowl where they allegedly located a further $11,500 in cash, an illegal substance believed to be steroids, an amount of cocaine, methamphetamine and more than 200 rounds of ammunition.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the Punchbowl premises. He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with two counts of knowingly take part in the supply of prohibited drugs.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 13 May 2020).

The older man was charged with a total of 13 offences including drug possession and supply, dealing with the proceeds of crime, and firearm offences.
