Two men have faced court charged over an alleged break and enter in the state’s Central Tablelands region.
In September 2026, officers attached to Chifley Police District commenced an investigation following reports an alleged break and enter had occurred in Bathurst, about 12.20am on Sunday 6 September 2026.
Police were told two men had allegedly broken into a storage area at a hotel on Durham Street, and had allegedly stolen a bandsaw, chainsaw, and pieces of copper and brass.
Following inquiries, about 1.20pm on Tuesday 8 September 2026, police executed a search warrant at a home on George Street, Bathurst, where they arrested a 36-year-old man.
At the location, police allegedly seized a bandsaw and chainsaw, along with a ride-on lawn mower.
Shortly after, officers arrested a 34-year-old man at a business on Keppel Street, Bathurst.
Both men were taken to Bathurst Police Station where each was charged with four offences,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000
- Goods in personal custody suspected stolen (not motor vehicle/vessel) (two counts), and
- Receiving stolen goods.
Both were refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 4 on Wednesday 9 September 2026, where both were formally refused bail to reappear before Bathurst Local Court on Wednesday 23 September 2026.
