Police charge two over food delivery theft in Chatswood

A man and woman will appear in court today after being charged over the theft of a food delivery car in Chatswood overnight.

Police have been told a man and woman, both aged 30, were conducting food deliveries when they parked a Toyota Corolla on Albert Street, near Thomas Lane, about 12.15am (Monday 27 July 2020).

When the man left the vehicle to attend a delivery address, a man allegedly entered the car.

The woman who was seated in the passenger seat was told to exit, before he allegedly drove from the scene.

Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries.

About 4am (Monday 27 July 2020), officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command noticed the stolen Toyota and stopped it on Lyn Parade, Cartwright.

The driver – a 20-year-old man and the passenger – a 20-year-old woman – allegedly fled on foot but were arrested a short time later and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The man was charged with unlawfully take/drive vehicle with person in/on it, and drive while licence cancelled.

The woman was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

They were both refused bail and are due to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Monday 27 July 2020).
