Police charge two with firearm, drug offences in South Coast

A man and woman will face court today after drugs and firearms were seized during a search warrant on the state’s South Coast earlier this year.

On Thursday 30 January 2020, officers from South Coast Police District executed a search warrant at a remote rural property in Mogood, north west of Batemans Bay, following information received during the recent bushfire emergency that cannabis was allegedly being grown at the property.

Officers located and seized more than 50 cannabis plants, 1.35kg of dried cannabis and three unregistered firearms.

Following extensive inquiries, a 45-year-old man and 48-year-old woman were charged in relation to these items.

The woman was charged with supply prohibited drug and cultivate prohibited plant.

The man was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, two counts of possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely and unlawfully obtained goods (in/on premises).

The pair were granted conditional bail and are due to face Batemans Bay Local Court today (Monday 23 March 2020).
