Police charge women after Aggravated Robbery at Launceston Woolworths

Police have charged two women following an aggravated robbery at Woolworths in Launceston last night where two staff members were assaulted.

Around 5.45pm two women attempted to exit the Woolworths on Wellington Street with two baskets of groceries they had not paid for.

When attempting to leave the store with the stolen goods, the offenders assaulted two staff members. The staff members received minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.

A police investigation following the incident identified the two offenders involved. Both women were arrested by police a short time later at a house in Invermay.

An 18-year-old woman from Invermay, and a 17-year-old woman from West Launceston were both charged with Armed Robbery. They were both bailed and will appear before the Court at a later date.
