A disqualified driver has been charged after he was found in bushland by a Police Dog following a pursuit in Sydney’s south west yesterday.
About 9.45am (Friday 26 February 2021), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a Kia Cerato on Howard Road, Padstow, for the purpose of a random breath test.
It’s alleged the driver failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
Following inquiries, police attended a home on Villiers Road, Padstow Heights, and noticed a man running towards bushland.
With assistance from the Dog Unit, the 23-year-old man was located on a fire trail near Alfords Point Bridge and arrested.
During a subsequent search of the man, police located methylamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and $500 cash.
He was taken to Bankstown Hospital for a medical assessment before being taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit-not stop-drive dangerously, possess prohibited drug, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
The Padstow Heights man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 27 February 2021).
