Police investigate armed robbery at Cairns

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a service station in Cairns this morning (January 27).

Around 11am, two men entered the business on Sheridan Street and threatened staff with a knife.

The men then moved behind the counter and demanded staff hand over money.

A short time later, the two men fled the scene on foot in a northerly direction with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

No one was hurt during the incident.

One of the men is described as being approximately 170cm tall, light brown complexion, slim build, dark hair and wearing a dark floppy broad brimmed hat with a white stripe, dark coloured shirt, light coloured shorts and no shoes.

The second man is described as being approximately 170cm tall, light brown complexion, slim build, dark hair and wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, white shirt with dark writing on it, black shorts and black shoes.

Police are appealing to any members of the public who may have information in relation to this matter to contact police.
