Police investigate armed robbery at Corinda

A man and woman have been charged following the alleged theft of a vehicle at gunpoint in Corinda this afternoon.

It will be alleged at around 3.30pm unknown people broke into a home on Clewley Street after arriving in a stolen car.

The offenders then took a set of keys from inside the residence belonging to a Toyota Prado parked in the garage.

A male neighbour approached the home after recognising the disturbance and was confronted by a man and woman outside. The man produced a firearm and allegedly threatened the neighbour before the pair fled in the Prado with the other stolen vehicle following behind.

It is further alleged that at around 4:30pm police attempted to intercept the stolen Toyota Prado in Kallangur, however it failed to stop.

A short time later the vehicle was reported to be driving through the underground car park of a shopping centre at North Lakes, crashing into trolleys and posing a threat to members of the public.

Police arrived and located the Prado unattended with the occupants having fled into the shopping centre.

Officers pursued a man and woman on foot during which time one of the pair allegedly threw away what appeared to be a handgun. Police recovered the item which was identified as a replica firearm and arrested the man and woman at the scene.

An 18-year-old Indooroopilly woman and a 25-year-old Morayfield man have both been charged with armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter dwelling with intent.

They are due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court tomorrow (March 17).
