Police investigate armed robbery at Pimlico

Two people have been charged after a woman’s car was allegedly stolen at knifepoint in Townsville last night.

It will be alleged just after 7pm a 23-year-old woman was approached by a man and woman as she walked to her car in a shopping centre carpark on Kings Road, Pimlico.

The pair requested the woman call a taxi for them, and when she refused the man produced a knife and demanded her car keys.

The woman complied and the man and woman drove away in her vehicle, a Holden Cruze.

It is further alleged at about 9.30pm as a result of information received from the public an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were arrested in Kirwan after they were seen running from the stolen car.

A search of the vehicle by officers uncovered a knife believed to be connected to the alleged robbery.

An 18-year-old Avenell Heights woman has been charged with armed robbery in company and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today (March 19).

A 19-year-old Avenell Heights man has been charged with armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evasion, and driving unlicensed and is also due in Townsville Magistrates Court today.
