Police investigate armed robbery at Sunnybank 11 May

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a rideshare vehicle overnight.

Around 12.30am on May 11, the driver picked up two passengers from a shopping centre on Mains Road and drove them to a rail station on Dixon Street.

Upon arrival at the destination, the two males threatened the driver with a knife.

The driver complied and was not physically hurt.

The two males fled the scene in the stolen Kia Cerato.

It is believed the armed robbery is linked to an attempted armed robbery earlier that night.

Around 11.30pm, a 22-year-old man had parked his vehicle outside a convenience store on Mains Road.

He was approached by two males who threatened him with a knife and demanded his car keys and wallet.

The man refused and fled on foot before arranging a ride home via a rideshare vehicle.

He was not physically injured. His vehicle, a Mazda CX-5, had the tyres deflated.

Investigations are continuing.
