Police investigate armed robbery in Westmead

An investigation is underway after a convenience store was robbed and a woman was threatened in Sydney’s west yesterday.

Just before 6.30pm (Monday 27 July 2020), emergency services were called to a business on Hassall Street, Westmead, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told two unknown men entered the store and demanded money from the female employee, while threatening her with a knife and hatchet.

The men fled the scene south along Hassall Street on foot with cash and cigarettes.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
