Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an assault in Ballarat early this morning.
It is believed a man who had fallen over on Lydiard Street was approached by an unknown man about 3am.
This man is believed to have stomped on the victims head rendering him unconscious before kicking him in the face and walking away.
He was last seen boarding an airport shuttle bus to Tullamarine shortly after the incident.
The man is described as Caucasian, aged 25-40-years-old with a large build.
He was wearing black pants, khaki green shirt with a light-coloured motif on the left, a red t-shirt underneath and a dark-coloured baseball cap.
