Police investigate car jacking, hit-run and theft in north western suburbs

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit are investigating a carjacking and subsequent theft in Sunshine this month.

A car was stolen during a carjacking at a carpark located at Dawson Street, Sunshine on 14 November about 5:40pm.

It’s believed an unknown man has got into the driver’s seat of a vehicle whilst the victim was resting in the passenger seat, produced a knife and made demands for the victim’s vehicle.

The offender has left in the stolen car described as a 2012 silver Nissan Tiida bearing registration 1KT9JV.

The vehicle was then involved in a petrol drive off at approximately 6.20pm on Ballarat Road in Sunshine North.

The man then drove the stolen car to a petrol station on Millers Road in Seaholme where he entered the store, chose two boxes of soft drink and walked out without paying and drove off.

At approximately 10.30pm the vehicle was involved in a hit and run incident on Kingsclere Avenue, Keysborough where a cyclist and his dog were struck.

The male cyclist sustained a broken ankle, the dog was not injured but the stolen vehicle did not stop at the scene.

At 3.30am on 15th November the vehicle crashed into a tree on a nature strip in Oak Street, Doveton.

This caused major damage to the vehicle, the driver has left the bumper of the vehicle on the nature strip before driving off again.

The vehicle was later found abandoned on Frawley Road in Hallam on 15 November.

Police have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
