Police investigate Corio shooting

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man and a woman after a firearm incident in Corio early Tuesday morning, 26 July.

Police were called to reports of up to ten shots fired at a property on Purnell Road about 2.15am.

A short time later as police were attending the scene, a grey Ford sedan, which had been seen near the Purnell address, drove onto the wrong side of Purnell Road and attempted to ram a police vehicle.

Police them located the vehicle a short time later at the intersection of Thompson Road and The Boulevard, Norlane, where it rammed an unmarked police car.

No police members were injured as a result of the collision.

The car drove off and dumped on Alkira Avenue where the occupants fled.

A short time later police arrested a 23-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman who are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
