Police investigate death at Footscray train station

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Footscray railway station earlier this week.

It is believed the 24-year-old got off a train that arrived on platform two at the train station on Hopkins and Irving Streets just before 2pm on Tuesday 2 June.

Detectives are investigating how the man came to be between two carriages. A good Samaritan stopped to assist him.

The train took off and the St Albans man died at the scene.

Investigators are keen to speak to this witness, a man perceived to be African in appearance and aged in his 20s.

They are also keen to speak to any other witnesses that were at the station at the time of the incident.
