Police investigate deliberately lit fires in North Bondi

Police are appealing for public assistance as investigations continue into three deliberately lit fires in the Eastern Suburbs this week.

During the early hours of Monday (20 April 2020), emergency services were called to three separate fires in the North Bondi area.

About 1.30am, officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command and Fire and Rescue NSW attended a unit complex on Gould Street, after a fire had ignited in the driveway.

A number of residents were evacuated as a precaution. Five motorcycles parked in the driveway were damaged, along with a nearby house.

The second fire was reported just after 2am in a vacant block on Chaleyer Street, damaging a timber fence and a council bin.

The third fire occurred about 2.45am in Liverpool Street where the base of a tree was set alight causing minor damage.

The fires were extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW and a crime scene established at each location and forensically examined.

Police believe the fires may have been deliberately lit and are urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact detectives at Waverley Police Station on
