Police and emergency services responded to reports of a crash in Fairfield last night (16 August).
Investigators have been told a motorbike was travelling west on Darebin Road just before midnight.
It is believed the rider lost control of the bike and crashed into a nearby building near the intersection of Station Street.
The male rider, who is yet to be identified, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries but sadly he died in hospital.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing.
