Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following an assault in Frankston last month.
Investigators have been told a man was walking home through the Frankston CBD about 4.40am on 5 December when he was approached by an unknown male and female along Dandenong Road West.
The unknown male demanded the victim give him his clothes and backpack.
When the victim did not comply the male then began punching him repeatedly until he fell to the ground.
The male then attempted to pull the victim’s backpack off before kicking him when he tried to stand up.
The victim, a 52-year-old Seaford man, managed to flee the scene without any of his belongings being stolen.
The unknown male and female then walked away and were last seen walking along Kitson Street.
The victim suffered bruising to his face and injuries to his jaw.
Police have released CCTV footage and images of a man and a woman who they believe could assist with their investigation.
The man is perceived to be Islander in appearance with a strong Maori accent, approximately 20-30 years old, with a solid build, and wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white runners.
The female is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, approximately 20-30 years old, wearing a blue blazer over a red top, black pants and black and white sneakers.
