Detectives from Banyule Crime Investigation Unit are investigating a collision and subsequent robbery which occurred in Greensborough on Tuesday night.
Investigators have been told a 21-year-old man was riding his Suzuki motorcycle south along Diamond Creek road about 7.20pm.
As he approached the roundabout at Civic Drive he was hit from behind by a grey or silver coloured SUV.
A male passenger got out of the vehicle and assaulted the rider before stealing his bag and driving from the scene.
The 21-year-old suffered minor injuries.
