Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a pedestrian was struck in a fatal hit-run collision in Fawkner early this morning.
Emergency services were called to Sydney Road about 1.40am on Saturday, 8 January following reports of the man laying on the road.
It is believed the driver of a vehicle failed to stop after colliding with the yet to be identified pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 40s, who sadly died at the scene.
Detectives at the scene continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
