The SA Police Serious and Organised Crime Branch are conducting investigations into two separate aggravated robberies which targeted hotels at Walkerville and Queenstown overnight.
In the latest incidents which occurred – the first was at Walkerville which happened just after midnight this morning.
Two men armed with poles entered the gaming room area of the Sussex Hotel on Walkerville Terrace ,where they threatened staff, before leaving with cash.
Then just before 3am, two men armed with a knife and metal pole entered the gaming room of the Prince of Wales Hotel on Port Road at Queenstown.
One of the men jumped a counter and stole cash from the till before running out of the hotel.
No one was physically injured during either robbery last night.
We do not have any confirmed details that the latest robberies are linked or related to the other series of robberies which have occurred earlier since January this year – and encourage any person who has any information relative to any of these robberies to contact police.
SAPOL are working closely with the Australian Hotels Association and Community Clubs Association to provide crime prevention advice and support to their members.
We have dedicated officers committed to working on these current robberies to identify and then arrest the offenders.
Investigation teams are proactively targeting people of interest; searching properties; and checking their compliance with bail, parole and home detention conditions.
