Police investigate if break in and car fire are linked at Bridgewater, South Australia

Police are investigating if a car fire and a supermarket break in at Bridgewater are linked.

Just after 4.30am Tuesday 17 May, police were called to the supermarket on Mount Barker Road, Bridgewater after reports of alarm activation.

When police arrived they found significant damage to the front doors of the premises and a number of pre-paid mobile phones had been taken. A review of the CCTV has identified that a vehicle was used to ram the doors of the shop to gain entry.

A short while later, police responded to a car fire further up Mount Barker Road. Upon arrival, fire crews quickly extinguished the fire; however the silver Mercedes sedan sustained significant damage. The vehicle had been abandoned at this location.

Police are investigating if the car fire and the break-in are linked.

The suspects were not located.
