Police investigate Morwell hit and run collision

Police are investigating following a hit run collision involving an unknown young child in Morwell on Sunday.

Investigators have been told an unregistered Holden station wagon collided with a Nissan Navara at the intersection Haywood Street and Porter Street just before 10pm.

Two unknown occupants of the Holden, a male and a female, fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Witnesses have told police the unknown female was carrying a young child, possibly a toddler in a pink dress, when she fled the scene.

Investigators hold concerns for the welfare of the child due to the nature of the collision.

The male driver and male passenger of the Nissan were both taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the Holden was stolen from a nearby address shortly before the crash.
