Police investigate robbery at Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating a robbery at a service station in Alice Springs earlier today.

Around 3:35am a man entered a service station on the Stuart Highway, grabbed a bottle of soft drink and ran from the store when he tripped and fell to the ground dropping the soft drink.

A staff member went to retrieve the soft drink when he was confronted by the offender who is alleged to have pulled out a knife and verbally threatened him before grabbing the soft drink and running away.

Police responded immediately to the incident and motorbike patrols were conducted of the area and surrounds but did not locate the offender.

Police have released CCTV footage of the incident so as to try and identify the offender who is described as being an Indigenous man aged in his early 30s with a chubby build and wearing dark coloured pants, a dark coloured long sleeve top and a white cross-body backpack.
