Police investigate serious assault at Calamvale

Police investigating the alleged unprovoked assault of a woman at a Calamvale shopping centre last week have released CCTV of the incident as part of the investigation.

Around 11.55am on Tuesday, March 10 two women exited the Big W store at the Compton Road, Calamvale shopping centre when a man walked up behind them.

He called out to the women, and when they turned around, punched one of the women in the face, knocking her to the ground and causing her glasses to go flying.

The man then calmly walked passed the women before doubling back and meeting up with a female companion near the entry to Big W.

A 28-year-old woman was transported to hospital for treatment to a laceration and bruising.

Investigations to date indicate there is no known connection between the man and the two women.

The man is described as Asian in appearance, with a solid build, approximately 175cm tall with short black hair.

The man was wearing red shorts, black hooded jumper with grey sleeves and grey hood, and a white t-shirt underneath.

His female companion is possibly Mediterranean in appearance, with a slim build and long black hair.

Anyone who recognises the man, or has any information in relation to this investigation, is urged to contact police (details below).
