Police investigate stabbing in Kew East

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a stabbing in Kew East on 6 March.

It is understood two groups of teenagers met up at the football oval of Hays Paddock on Leason Street where an affray broke out about 4.45pm.

Police were told a knife was produced and a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the back.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators were told a 13-year-old boy sustained minor injuries following an assault, and his shoes and bag were stolen.

Officers believe the teenagers were wearing athletic clothing including black hoodies, grey and black Nike Tech fleeces and face coverings.

The parties are believed to be known to each other and it is understood the incident may have been filmed.

A black utility was also seen leaving the Hays Paddock carpark at the time of the incident and police would also like to speak to the driver of the vehicle.
