Police investigating after car crashes onto railway tracks in Merrylands

Police are investigating after a car became stuck on a railway land in Sydney’s West last night.

About 11.30pm (Sunday 5 July 2020), emergency services were called to Merrylands Railway Station to reports a car had driven across a footpath and fallen down an embankment close to the rail lines. Although the vehicle wasn’t blocking the main lines, trains were stopped as a precaution.

The driver and passenger, both men, were uninjured and were removed from the vehicle.

The Toyota Eco remained on the tracks for around 30 minutes delaying trains.

The driver was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics at the scene.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and organised the vehicle to be towed by TMC without incident.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the event or may have dashcam footage from the area is urged to contact Cumberland Police:
