Police investigating truck rollover in Holbrook

An investigation is underway following a truck rollover in the Murray River region yesterday.

About 11.45am (Monday 2 August 2021), a semitrailer – carrying a full load of bark mulch – was travelling northbound on the Hume Highway at Holbrook, when the driver lost control and drove across the grassed median strip before rolling, about a kilometre from the Wagga Wagga Road exit.

The driver – a 23-year-old man – was ejected from the vehicle through the front windscreen, with his arm becoming trapped between the cabin and a concrete culvert on the median strip.

An off-duty paramedic and off-duty nurse rendered assistance before emergency services arrived.

The man was freed and airlifted to Canberra Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District have since commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Inquiries are continuing.
