Police investigating wounding at Robina

Police are investigating the wounding of a 13-year-old Upper Coomera boy at Robina yesterday evening.

Around 5.30pm, the 13-year-old and three friends were at a shopping centre on Robina Town Centre Drive, where they entered into a verbal altercation with a group of males who were not known to them.

Shortly after, the two groups met outside the shopping centre, in parkland off Arbour Lane, where a physical altercation ensued.

The 13-year-old sustained a serious laceration to his left hand, after one of the members of the opposing group slashed him with a knife.

The 13-year-old fell to the ground, where he was further kicked and punched by the offender and another male, before the opposing group ran away.

The boy was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Investigations continue.
