Police launch new undercover uniforms

Victoria Police officers will soon be wearing the new range of undercover police uniforms.

The new undercover uniforms will be available to both male and female officers conducting undercover police operations across the state.

The range will consist of contemporary styles to replace the traditional brown leather jacket which has widely been considered too conspicuous for modern policing.

The new range of uniforms will be rolled out across the state from today and the Victorian community can expect to see them in unexpected situations soon.

North South Metro Inspector A. Prilphouls said, “the new range of undercover uniforms will enable our officers to slip in and out of almost any social and criminal situation undetected. The new styles will cover a number of scenarios from formal, sporty and even biker casual.

“The Victoria Police undercover uniform hasn’t changed since 1982, so this is a welcome update.”

The new undercover police uniforms are a beneficial tool in the response to, and management of, the ongoing need for police to remain undetected during undercover police operations.
