Police lay charges after fatal crash – Macquarie Park

A man has been charged following a fatal two-vehicle crash in Sydney’s north.

About 12.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 February 2024), emergency services were called to Epping Road, Macquarie Park, following reports of a crash involving a car and motorcycle.

The male rider was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he later died. He is yet to be formally identified, however believed to be in his 30s.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command established a crime scene and with the assistance of specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Upon his release from hospital, the driver was taken to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 12 March 2024.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
