Police lay charges after fifth-floor break-in, woman sexually touched in Pyrmont

A man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a fifth-floor unit and sexually touching a woman at Pyrmont yesterday.

About 2am (Thursday 2 July 2020), a group – including a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man – left a licensed venue on George Street, Sydney, before attending a unit on Bulwarra Road, Pyrmont.

The group left and the woman went to bed.

A short time later, it’s alleged the 25-year-old man – who was recently known to the woman – forced entry to the unit via the fifth-floor balcony and entered the bedroom.

It’s further alleged the man sexually touched the woman, before leaving the unit.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were notified about 7.30pm yesterday and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested the man after he returned to the George Street licensed venue about 1am today (Friday 3 July 2020).

He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence and sexually touch another person without consent.

The Ultimo man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 3 July 2020).
