Police lay charges after man assaulted during robbery in Unanderra

A man has been charged following an investigation into a robbery near Wollongong.

About midnight on Thursday 30 April 2020, two men – aged 26 and 31 – attended a worksite on Resolution Drive, Unanderra, and consumed alcoholic drinks with a 29-year-old man who was staying at the site.

Following a verbal altercation, the 26-year-old man allegedly held down the 29-year-old man, while the 31-year-old man assaulted him.

The 31-year-old man lost consciousness and his wallet was stolen.

The matter was reported to police and an investigation commenced by officers from Lake Illawarra Police District.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for multiple facial fractures before being taken to Wollongong Hospital.

Following extensive inquiries, about 4pm yesterday (Thursday 7 May 2020), a 31-year-old man was arrested at Mittagong Train Station and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, where he was charged with robbery in company.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 8 May 2020).
