Police lay charges – Aggravated robbery – Palmerston 26 March

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths and a man in relation at an aggravated robbery in Bellamack yesterday.

At around 6pm, police received reports that a group of males had allegedly unlawfully entered a licensed business on Flynn Circuit, stealing alcohol and causing damage. The offenders have allegedly threated staff with blunt weapons before fleeing the scene.

Patrons nearby have attempted to restrain some of the offenders, with one patron being assaulted and receiving minor injuries.

Police arrested the males a short time later and detectives from Serious Crime have since charged a 15-year-old with:

  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Unlawful entry – building
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Going armed in public

He was remanded to appear in court on 28 March 2022.

A 16-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Unlawful entry – building
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Going armed in public
  • 3 x Aggravated assault

He was remanded to appear in court on 28 March 2022.

A 29-year-old man was charged with:

  • 1 x Recruit a child – commit offence
  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Unlawful entry – building
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Going armed in public

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 28 March 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier said, “Investigations into this aggravated robbery are ongoing and police would like to thank the members of the public who assisted.

“This sort of violent behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place within our community.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident last night is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference 9960952.”
