Police lay charges – Assault worker at Casuarina

Northern Territory Police have charged 3 youths after a security officer was assaulted in casuarina yesterday.

Around 4:45pm, The Joint Emergency Service Communication Centre received reports a group was causing disturbances at a shopping centre on Trower Road, Casuarina.

While security were attending the incidents, a number of youth have allegedly assaulted the worker, kicking him and spitting in his face.

A number of the youths have also used hammers to damage the security offices at the centre before fleeing the scene.

Casuarina general duties attended and with the assistance of CCTV operators, identified and arrested 3 youth, aged 15, for the related offending.

All have since been charged with offences including criminal damage, aggravated assault and assault worker.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Humphries said “This sort of violent behaviour is completely unacceptable and investigations are continuing to identify the remaining offenders involved.
