Police lay charges over act of indecency and intimidation in Westmead

A man will appear in court today charged over allegedly committing an act of indecency and intimidating a woman in Sydney’s west.

About 8.30pm on Wednesday 25 December 2019, a 25-year-old woman was waiting for a train at Westmead Railway Station, when a man approached and stood in front of her.

Police will allege in court that the man indecently exposed himself to the woman before committing an act of indecency.

The man allegedly followed the woman onto the train, bound for Liverpool Railway Station, before he sat in a separate area.

Officers from the Police Transport Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, and assisted by officers from Sydney City Police Area Command, a 46-year-old was arrested in Wynyard Park about 3.50pm yesterday (Tuesday 28 January 2020).

He was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with carry out sexual act towards another without consent, and intimidation causing fear of physical or mental harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 29 January 2020).
