A man has been charged as police continue to search for a second man involved in an alleged assault with a machete in Sydney’s west overnight.
Shortly before 11pm (Tuesday 23 June 2026), emergency services were called to a house on Childs Street, Lidcombe, following reports of an assault.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and were told a 45-year-old man had allegedly been attacked by two other men with a machete following a verbal dispute.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the man for stab wounds to his head and hand before he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
A short time later, officers arrested a 44-year-old man at the scene before taking him to Auburn Police Station.
A third man who was involved in the incident left the scene prior to the arrival of police.
A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced by Auburn detectives.
Following inquiries, the 44-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s) (DV).
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 25 June 2026).
As investigations continue, detectives are hoping to speak to a man who was seen in the area at the time of the incident.
He is described as being of Asian appearance and was last seen wearing a black jumper, dark tracksuit pants and glasses.
