Police lay charges over property offences at Parap

Strike Force Trident have arrested a recidivist property offender following an unlawful entry at Parap on 9 November 2019.

Unknown offenders entered the location and stole property including bank cards. Sometime following the unlawful entry, an 18-year-old male came to be in possession of the bank cards which were used to make purchases at businesses in Casuarina and Leanyer.

On 9 December, the male attended Casuarina Square where he snatched a purse from an elderly couple as they were putting their Christmas tree into their car. The male once again targeted an elderly couple, stealing a wallet and handbag, on 11 December.

The male came to police attention when he was sighted in a vehicle travelling from Casuarina to Coconut Grove on 12 December. The male resisted arrest and was eventually apprehended and charged in relation to the aforementioned incidents.

The male has been charged with:

  • 3 x Criminal deception
  • 4 x Stealing
  • 1 x Trespass
  • 1 x Resist
  • 2 x Unlawful entry
  • 1 x Damage property
  • 2 x Warrants
  • 1 x Breach bail
  • 1 x Resist police in the execution of duty

He was scheduled to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
